Hexmap is in beta and this Beta Policy overrides anything in the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. When the beta period ends, those policies will enter into force.
The beta period is temporary but not defined. It will end when the service is deemed by The Artificial Creative B.V. to be stable enough for general use and ready to comply with the policies mentioned above.
During the beta period, we may change the service, including the data we collect and how we use it, without notice.
As of this writing:
User-entered data (bios, collection descriptions, hex notes, etc.) are not moderated.
We have not yet formalized a code of conduct. Nonetheless, we will remove any content and ban users that we deem to be harmful. (Just don't be an asshole.)
Maps are rendered using tiles from an external service, CARTO.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Several client-side scripts are loaded from unpkg.com.
The production database is indirectly reachable via the public internet. It is secured by both proxy and Postgresql authentication, but this is a suboptimal arrangement to simplify troubleshooting during the beta period.
Availability precaustions are minimal. The chances of service downtime or even complete data loss are higher than we consider acceptable for a production service.
Efforts to ensure security and privacy are ongoing, but a thorough and focused audit has not been performed.
Thanks for joining us during this beta! We look forward to your feedback and suggestions.
